Have you ever worked on a goal or specific project for so long that once you accomplished it, you felt “deflated” or the completion of the task felt “anti-climatic?” There’s often a “high” when we pursue a goal and believe that feeling will grow once we complete it. Sometimes we feel relief or euphoria (depending on many circumstances), and sometimes we feel exhausted and disappointed.
If this happens to you, you may not take the time to “pause” and “celebrate your wins.” When you accomplish something big or small, celebrate your win, treat yourself and record your achievements.
Even if the task or activity seems small such as phoning someone and making a connection, updating a resume, or cleaning your home, make sure to celebrate because when you do, you will build your confidence and motivation.
Your small acts will lead to more extensive and significant actions. As well, life will feel sweeter and more joy-filled.
What have you done this week? Write down your accomplishments, large and small, and then treat yourself at the end of the week.
